Coming from a fundamentally different musical paradigm, I was initially nervous about starting to learn jazz, but after studying with Michael, I feel much more confident in my ability to both understand and play jazz

FAQS

How is this different than getting a weekly private lesson teacher?

The Improvisation Excellence Program allows me to be your personal music coach for 8 weeks. As your coach, you have access to me throughout the program so that I can help you overcome your roadblocks as they come up. My clients are constantly sending me recordings of their practice sessions, band rehearsals, and live gigs for feedback.

Do we only work on improv, or can we talk about saxophone technique too?

It is impossible to talk about improvisation without also discussing tone and technique. A balanced practice session involves tone, technique, music study, and creative expression.

How much time do I need to have to make this work?

One of my goals is to help you make music a part of your life with the time that you have. If you only have a short amount of time per week to practice, my program will help you know exactly how to use it.
